Nagaland Bench 3
Description
Antique Naga teak coffee table from the early 20th century. This originated as a wood bed from the indigenous Naga tribes of Nagaland in North East India near Burma.
The table has been carved out of a single log.. The legs on this piece are lower to the ground. Because it is carved from a single large log, there's not a cut or nail anywhere - a specific trait of Naga furniture.
Nagaland tables are highly coveted because the tribes live quite remotely, making their products difficult to access. They have their own languages and furniture dealers need special permission from the government to export. Most are from the area or have roots in Nagaland.
Measurements: 72" L x 19" W x 14" H
This table has a natural dark brown color and polished sheen.
Nearly every Nagaland bed we found online currently retails anywhere from $4,000 - $6500. These are highly sought-after pieces.
